3 mountains over 3,000m and two glaciers Rattenbach and Tiefenbach make Solden an interesting ski resort. And it’s always blessed good snow on the glaciers! Tackle all 3 peaks by following the big 3 rally, a massive 50km circuit you can complete in one day. As with most of Austria the lift system is modern and efficient so getting around the slopes is effortless. In fact there is a whopping 144km of skiing in the resort, plus a huge further 110km accessible via ski bus in the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl ski area. All covered in your lift pass.
Solden was made famous by being used as a location in Spectre, the Bond film. If you’ve seen the film you’ll recognise the restaurant Ice Q, on the summit of Gaislachkogl, which is one of 30+ restaurants and mountain huts available to you for food and drink on the mountains.
Solden is a good all-round ski resort for beginners to experts. The ski school is friendly and English speaking. The intermediate skiing options are excellent with 46 reds to choose from. Experts will also be challenged by 27 black runs.
The resort is very traditional and typical of the Tyrol. And as with much of Austrian ski resorts the Après Ski is laid back and lively! If drinking and partying isn’t your thing you could go ice skating, swimming (indoor!) go to a spa, bowling or even play tennis. Watch out for the tobogganing events on an evening, excellent fun for all the family.
