Slovenia Ski Resorts

Bled

Famous for its crystalline lake and scenic lodges, Bled is very close to the popular ski slopes of Straža, an ideal choice for beginners. It’s is one of the Alps' smallest ski resorts, with a 131-metre descent, 3 pistes, and 31 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails. Due to its relatively low altitude, snow-making machines are used for all of Straža’s pistes, although you can find higher, more challenging pistes at nearby Slovenia ski resorts like Krvavec, Vogel and Kranjska Gora.

Bohinj

With over 60 kilometres of cross-country ski trails, night skiing, night sledging, ice-skating areas and plenty of skiing options for beginners and children, Bohinj is an Alpine haven. This family friendly resort also offers snow rafting, ice-climbing, winter-cycling and other adventure activities, and you'll find a good mix of restaurants and traditional Alpine accommodation within easy reach.

Kranjska Gora

Near the Italian and Austrian borders, this wonderful resort has 18 ski slopes that are easily accessible via 13 drag lifts and 6 chairlifts. One of the top Slovenia skiing destinations for advanced skiers, Kranjska Gora even has a snow-covered beach – and you can find a wide selection of hotels and apartments within walking distance of the ski lifts. Kranjska Gora's slopes are also supported by snow-making machines because of its fairly low altitude - by Alpine standards.

Skiing Slovenia

Best for Beginners

If you’re new to skiing and would prefer Slovenia ski resorts catered for beginners, try Rogla at Mount Pohorje, which has gentle slopes and a superb thermal centre with Jacuzzis and indoor pools.

Best for Advanced skiers

With 8km of black runs and almost guaranteed snow cover from November to April, Krvavec is well suited to advanced/expert Skiing in Slovenia. It's also considered the sunniest skiing resort in the country.

Best for Snow conditions

According to weather reports, the Kanin-Sella Nevea Ski Resort in Bovec on the Slovenian-Italian border receives a huge amount of snow thanks to its higher altitude and precipitation.

Best for Snowboarders

The vibrant resort of Krvavec Ski Resort, one of the most popular winter sports destinations in Slovenia, has several well-marked ski slopes for snowboarders and is only a 25-kilometre journey from the capital city, Ljubljana.

Best for Off-Piste skiing

You'll find very good off-piste skiing areas in the Vogel area where you can book guided free-riding excursions in some of the best terrain in the eastern Alps.

Best for Snowparks

The Vogel Snow Park is widely considered to be the best in the country, with various obstacles and jumps for adrenaline seekers.

Best for Après Ski

The après-ski scene in Slovenia tends to be more relaxed and informal than what you might encounter in the French or Swiss Alps. One of the best resorts is the Kranjska Gora Ski Resort, which has a lively nightlife scene and holds regular competitions and festivals.

Slovenia Ski Holidays
